DRY CUTICLES FOR SHAME!

Hello friends. Long time no post. A couple weeks ago I had done this amazing mani but wasn't able to take a photograph of it because my fiance and I are never home at the same time, or he is sleeping. So I came home from work, noticed his phone plugged into the wall and squeaked with joy, snatched it, and ran outside to take pictures. In retrospect, I should have moisturized first because I had just came home from work and my cuticles were SUPER DRY. So I apologize for that. On to the mani!

I started off with 2 coats of China Glaze Sweet Hook from the Electropop collection. Such a pretty lavender color! I followed that with 1 coat of Orly Can't Be Tamed from the flash glam collection (I got that polish for 1.50!) then 1 coat OPI Care To Danse? from the NYC Ballet Collection. Then I repeated with another coat of Can't Be Tamed and Care to Danse? followed by top coat.

I don't know why I threw this pic in here...lol...the blurry finger reminds me of dinosaur eggs...

I like a good jelly sandwich. Don't you? What was the last Jelly sandwich you wore? What's a good cuticle cream that doesn't leave you all greasy? My work destroys my hands...I broke a nail the other day all the way down to the quick. Does your work destroy your hands?

Challenge day 26: Inspired by Fashion!!

Hello Friends!!!! Today I have for you a Betsey Johnson inspired nail look. As many of you may have heard, Betsey Johnson has gone out of business, which makes me sad because I never could buy any of the clothes because they are too small to fit my body!! But I love the way they look and this dress is right up my alley. So, I did nail art to (kinda) match!!

Isn't it adorable? I want it sooooo bad. And Here is my mani!

Yaggghhh! It's so cute!!! I wish I would have put the actual bow up a little bit higher, but still...super cute!!!

For my base I used Nicole by OPI Paparazzi Don't Preach and Orly Nite Owl in a ruffle mani (pics down below) I almost died just at that part. With a little more practice it would have been perfect! I wish I had a lighter shade of tan or a nude to make the dots to recreate the colors from the dress more, but this works out too.

After that was dry I used CND Guava to create a bow across my fingers and then outlined it in an Orly instant artist striper brush (btw did you know that these are just paint? waste o' money, good thing I got it free). Finally added Seche Vite.

Here is the ruffle mani without the bows. I like this better, but both looks are super cute.

Do you like to wear ruffle manis? the last one I tried was horrible.... Inky Whiskers said on one of my blog posts that she tried to do a scallop mani and it didn't work out for her. Dotting in a straight line on a curved "canvas" is difficult. I find myself wanting to follow the shape of my nail, or avoiding my cuticle.

Hello Ladies! Green!!!!! EXCITED!!!!! I love green nail polish. Yesterday after that horrible yellow polish debacle I immediately changed my nails to the polish I'm about to show you! I even painted it on both hands! But first! Bottle spam of joy and loveliness! Read more after the break!

Tribal Nails

Hi Guys! Have you ever hated a trend, or a color, or a finish (etc.) with such a passion that you cringe every time you look at it? Apart from duck feet nails, which will forever be in my "do no execute" file in my brain's filing cabinet,

I usuallly end up loving them later. For example, when I bought Zoya Lo I despised it. Now it's one of my favorite colors! That is how I felt about tribal nails. I thought they looked gaudy and I would never take the time to draw out those lines. Well folks, here I am showing you tribal nails because I've been obsessed with them for the last week!

Aren't they cute?! Not the greatest execution of them, because frankly I haven't gotten the practice in, but still. I can't stop staring at my nails!

For the base I started out with Orly Faint of Heart from the Cool Romance Collection. Then for the lines of color I used China Glaze Aquadelic, Sweet Hook, and Kinetic Candy from the Electropop Collection, and a Color club I got for 99 cents at Walgreen's that I believe is called She's sooo Glam but it did not have a sticker so I can't be completely positive. I used Milani White on the Spot and an Orly black striper for the lines and dots.

How do you feel about tribal nails? Have you done them? Let me see!! I'm really happy about these and the lady who worked at my local Beauty Brands would not stop talking about them! Hope everyone has a great friday!

*I have done some minor editing to these photos. Besides adding in watermarks, I fixed bits of cuticle in order to make the focus on the nail art and not on my work-destroyed cuticles. All nail art though was left completely intact.
